Sensor and mass-balance check
Find the meters and analysers that disagree with each other and with basic conservation.
From $1,000 for a typical scope
Discuss this service“We don’t trust our numbers”
If flows, levels and analysers don’t agree, every report built on them is in doubt. Mass and energy balances show where the numbers can’t all be right, and which instruments to check first.
A good fit when
- Unit balances don’t close, or close only with manual adjustments
- Shifts argue about which meter to believe
- You’re preparing data for any modelling or reporting work
How the work runs
Timing is a planning estimate, confirmed after the first stage.
| When | Work | You can review |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Define the balance boundary and map tags | Agreed balance envelope |
| Weeks 1–2 | Calculate balances over stable periods and test each instrument | Gap analysis by period |
| Week 2 | Review suspect instruments with your team | Ranked check list |
What we need
- Flow, level, temperature and composition tags for the boundary
- A simple flow diagram or P&ID extract
- Meter types, calibration dates and known faults
- Inventory changes and operating events
What you keep
- Balance calculations you can rerun
- Ranked list of suspect instruments, with the evidence for each
- Recommended checks, in order of expected value
Agreed before we start
- Balance closure before and after flagged corrections
- Number of stable periods tested
- Confirmation of findings by field checks where possible
When we’d stop
We narrow the boundary if too many streams are unmetered to make the balance meaningful.
